Getting Started with Your Squad Server

How to set up your Squad server for intense 50v50 battles with vehicles and tactical teamwork from start to finish.

Getting Started with Your Squad Server

Ready for large-scale combined arms combat? Here's how to set up the server.

1. Find your server

Go to My Services and open your Squad server to see the console, files, and settings.

2. Adjust server settings

Under Files you'll find Server.cfg and Rcon.cfg, where you can set:

  • ServerName — the name shown in the server browser
  • MaxPlayers — maximum number of players
  • RconPassword — password for remote administration

3. Choose a map rotation

Edit MapRotation.cfg to determine which maps and gamemodes (AAS, RAAS, Invasion, etc.) rotate on the server.

4. Start the server

Click Start. The first boot typically takes 5-10 minutes.

5. Connect to the server

Open Squad, go to Server Browser, filter by name, or add the server as a favorite via IP and port from the control panel.

Tips

  • Use RCON to administer the server live — kick, ban, and change maps without restarting.
  • Enable automatic backups of your config files before experimenting with settings.
  • Keep the server updated, as Squad frequently receives balance and content updates.
