Getting Started with Your Arma Server

How to set up your Arma server for realistic military operations and missions.

Getting Started with Your Arma Server

Ready to lead your forces in realistic military operations? Here's how to set up the server.

1. Find your server

Go to My Services and open your Arma server to see the console, files, and settings.

2. Adjust server.cfg

Under Files you'll find server.cfg, where you can set:

  • hostname — the server name
  • password and passwordAdmin — player and admin password
  • maxPlayers — maximum number of players

3. Install mods via Steam Workshop

Add Workshop mod IDs under the Startup tab's -mod= parameter. Restart the server and mods download and load automatically.

4. Choose a mission

Upload your .pbo mission file to the mpmissions folder via the file manager, and select it under Startup.

5. Start the server

Click Start. With many mods installed, the first boot can take several minutes.

6. Connect to the server

Open Arma, go to Server BrowserInternet, search for your server name, or add the server as a favorite via IP and port.

Tips

  • Keep track of mod order — some mods require others to load first.
  • Enable automatic backups of your mission and config files.
  • Use a separate headless client if you're running large missions with many AI units.
