2. Adjust server-settings.json
Under Files you'll find server-settings.json, where you can set:
name— the server name shown in the server listdescription— a short descriptionmax_players— maximum number of playersgame_password— optional password
3. Start the server
Click Start. The first boot generates a new world unless you've uploaded an existing save.
4. Connect to the server
Open Factorio, go to Multiplayer → Connect to address, and enter your server's IP address and port.
5. Upload an existing save (optional)
Already have a factory going? Upload your .zip save file to the saves folder via the file manager and select it under Startup.
Tips
- Enable automatic backups so you can roll back if a biter attack destroys important infrastructure.
- Install mods by uploading them to the
modsfolder — remember to enable them inmod-list.json. - The server runs 24/7, so your factory keeps producing even while you're offline.
