How to Join Your FiveM Server
Step-by-step guide to joining your FiveM/GTA V roleplay server, either directly via IP or via a connect link.
How to Join Your FiveM Server
Once your FiveM server is running on your VPS, there are a few different ways to join, depending on how the server is set up.
Method 1: Direct via IP address
- Open the FiveM client.
- Press F8 to open the console, or use the search bar on the home screen.
- Type
connect your-ip:port(e.g.connect 192.0.2.10:30120) and press Enter. - The server loads resources and connects you automatically.
You'll find your server's IP address and port under your VPS' details in the control panel.
Method 2: Via a connect link (cfx.re)
If your server is registered with Cfx.re (requires txAdmin, or endpoint_add_tcp/endpoint_add_udp set up correctly), players can join via a link in the format:
https://cfx.re/join/xxxxxx
Share the link with your players — it opens FiveM automatically and connects them to the server.
Method 3: Via the server list
- Open the FiveM client and go to the Servers tab.
- Search for your server name.
- Click the server and press Connect.
This requires the server to be set as visible in the public list and properly registered with Cfx.re.
Troubleshooting
- "Couldn't connect" — double-check the IP and port, and confirm the FiveM server process is running (check via SSH or your VPS console).
- Server not showing in the list — check your firewall/port forwarding, and that the server has a valid Cfx.re license key set in
server.cfg. - Long loading time — normal with many resources or large frameworks like ESX/QBCore; wait a bit longer on first connect.
Tips
- Set up a permanent connect link via Cfx.re so you don't have to share an IP address that might change.
- Use a simple message or a Discord bot to share connection details with your community.
- Contact us if you're unsure about the setup — we're happy to help with the initial configuration of your FiveM VPS.
