Customize Your Server Icon
Learn how to set a custom icon for your Minecraft server so it appears in players' server lists.
What is a server icon?
When players open their server list in Minecraft, they see a small image to the left of each server name. That's your server icon. A unique icon makes your server more recognizable and gives it a professional look.
Image requirements
Before uploading your icon, make sure it meets the following requirements:
- Format: PNG (
.png) - Size: exactly 64 × 64 pixels
- Filename: exactly
server-icon.png
If the image is not exactly 64×64, Minecraft will ignore it. Use an image editor (e.g. Paint.NET, GIMP, Photoshop, or a free online resizer) to resize it.
Step 1 — Prepare your image
Make sure your image is saved as server-icon.png and is exactly 64×64 pixels. You can use a free online tool such as iloveimg.com to resize it.
Step 2 — Upload the icon to your server
Go to your server's file manager in the Potionhost control panel and navigate to the root folder of your server (the folder containing server.properties and eula.txt).
Upload the file server-icon.png directly into this folder.
The file must be placed in the root folder — not inside a subfolder.
Step 3 — Restart your server
After uploading, you need to restart your server for the change to take effect. The icon is only loaded when the server starts.
Verify the setup
Open Minecraft and add your server to the server list. Your icon should now appear to the left of the server name.
If the icon is not showing, double-check:
- The filename is exactly
server-icon.png(no capital letters) - The image is exactly 64×64 pixels
- The file is placed in the server's root folder
- The server has been restarted after uploading
